Established in 2017, Ag Econ is an agricultural Research, Development and Extension (RD&E) provider with offices in North West NSW, New England, and the Southern Tablelands. With a background owning and operating farm enterprises across cropping and livestock, the partners at Ag Econ understand the intricacies of agribusiness operations and analysis.
OUR GOAL. Our core objective is to contribute to the sustainability of the agricultural sector through objective and practical analysis.
OUR APPROACH. We believe in a boots on the ground approach to understanding the issues and come up with practical analysis and insights. We work with growers, researchers and policy makers to identify and evaluate innovative practices or investments that increase productivity, reduce environmental footprint and maximise profits.
OUR PRIORITIES. Our RD&E focus is on business and industry level analysis and planning, including economic analysis, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), sustainability analysis and planning, and climate analysis and planning.
WHAT WE DO. The partners Jon Welsh, Janine Powell and George Revell provide a range of services to both public and private sector clients across all of Australia’s agricultural regions. Information is provided in an easy to read format and can be tailored to suit various stakeholders such as business decision makers, investors, banks and advisors. Project sizes can vary from five-year RD&E fully costed projects, down to days or hours for essential tasks.
Ag Econ has successfully delivered results for local, state and federal government clients. With rural based economists and active business interests across a range of farming enterprises, the partners combine their skills to ensure a seamless process for agricultural RD&E services.
